1st Gate of Dreaming - Root Chakra
In order to reach the 1st Gate of Dreaming, one has to simply become lucid. To cross the the 1st Gate of Dreaming requires that you exert dream control of some kind. Castaneda suggested that one "look at your hands" when you become lucid. For me, learning to lucid dream was all about being able to keep the view of any item in the dream solid and unwavering. Just by gazing for short periods of time on each thing, over the span of several lucid dreams, this ability became easy. The other aspect of lucid dreaming, what you might call the "fun part" is changing things in the dream. Making stuff appear and flying around like superman. This is important too, because someday you will try to change something and it will be impossible...
In the physical body, the Root Chakra is what grounds us, giving one a sense of "reality". In dreaming, opening the Root Chakra, or crossing the 1st Gate, establishes the beginnings of "dream reality".
